Historic Belper

Belper is located at the heart of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site in Derbyshire , made famous by the Strutt family who built one of the world's first cotton spinning mills beside the river Derwent in 1776. It's just a short walk from the apartment to The North Mill (now a visitor centre) and the beautiful River Gardens

Superb Location

The apartment enjoys a quiet location yet is only a short walk from the Town Centre, and 150 yards to the train station, making it easily accessible from Derby ( 11 minutes)  Matlock ( 22 mins) and Sheffield ( 31 minutes).
If coming by car you'll find us just off the A6, use J28 when leaving the M1.
The perfect base for visiting Chatsworth House ( 35 minutes) and exploring other Derbyshire towns and villages like Ashbourne & Buxton within the Peak District National Park

Belper - High Street

Belper was the proud winner of the Great British High Street Award in 2019 .
It's just a short walk to the High Street where you will find a good selection of retail shops , cafes and restaurants , plus a monthly farmer's market in the historic Market Place

History of St Laurence Gardens

The apartment is situated in what was once the refectory at St Laurence Convent, originally built in 1882 on land purchased from the Strutt family. At one time an orphanage and school were run from the convent but it was closed in 2001 and developed by Peveril Homes in 2004.
